Perambra (Malayalam: പേരാമ്പ്ര) is a town in Koyilandy taluk of Kozhikode district in North Malabar region of Kerala state, India. This is one of the 140 assembly constituencies in Kerala, and one of the 12 block Panchayats in Kozhikode district. There is a high demand from people to allow Perambra as a Taluk and Municipality.

Perambra lies almost at the centre of the district covering an area of 298.43 km2. The block has a population of 1,71,433; (86,019 males and 85414 females). The Perambra block has seven panchayatsChangaroth, Cheruvannur, Kayanna, Koothali, Chakkittapara, Nochad and Perambra.

Educational institutions

The biggest college of Perambra is C.K.G.College. There are private college like National College, Presidency College, Oxford College, Chinmaya College, Indus College and TIME. Mercy college offers the courses of the University of Calicut. Darunnujoom College offers courses in food technology and psychology. Mother Teresa College offers teacher training. There are schools of fine arts like Academy of arts(centre for music dance and fine arts), Sopanam Sangeetha Sabha. Perambra Highschool and Vadakkumbad are the bigger schools here. There are also some private schools like St.Francis, Olive, St.Meeras, Sirajul Hudha and Vedavyasa.

Peruvannamuzhi Dam Site

Kakkayam valley

Located at a distance of 15 km from Perambra, the Peruvannamuzhi Dam site set amid hills is a beautiful picnic spot. The reservoir here provides facilities for speedboat and rowboat cruises. The region offers immense scope for picnicking. The Experimental Farm of Indian Institute of Spices Research which has a large collection of various spice crops is situated about 2 km from Peruvannamuzhi Dam.

Kakkayam Dam Site

Kakkayam is a picturesque damsite, having exotic wildlife, offers excellent trekking and rock climbing opportunities. The best time to visit is between November and April. Kakkayam is located about 20 km from Perambra Town.

The main attractions near this tourists place are, Kakkayam valley, Kariyathan rock (Kariyathan Mala) and Urakkuzhi Waterfalls. This is an excellent location for trekking and rock climbing.This is at a distance of 45 km from Kozhikode. 5 out of the 10 islands present are earmarked for development. Each island is with 2 to 5 acres in extent.

Destinations like Chakkittapara, Kulathuvayal, Peruvannamuzhi, Chempanoda, Poozhithode, Edavarad, Avala and Chempra are only a few kilometers away from the town.

Perambra town connects to other parts of India through Koyilandy town. The nearest airports are at Kannur and Kozhikode. The nearest railway station is at Koyiandy. The national highway no.66 passes through Koyilandy and the northern stretch connects to Goa and Mumbai. The southern stretch connects to Cochin and Trivandrum. The eastern National Highway No.54 going through Kuttiady connects to Mananthavady, Mysore and Bangalore.
