Pattuvam is a village in Kannur district, Kerala, India.

Demographics

Pattuvam has an area of 32 square kilometers and a population of about 20000.

Geography

Surrounded with rivers on all sides except the east where it shares a boundary with the Thaliparamba municipality, Pattuvam has rich biodiversity thanks to its hills, rivers, etc. Pattuvam created history a decade ago when it used its autonomy to assert its sole right to the local biodiversity.

Villages and suburbs

The Panchayat consists of mini-villages like Mangalasseri, Muthukuda, kavungal, Pattuvam, Muriyathode, Mullool, Ariyil, Parappool, and Vellikkeel. The Panchayat is ruled by the left front led by President Mr.Anakkeel Chandran. With a predominantly agriculture oriented population, Pattuvam is home to many eminent personalities.

Transportation

The national highway passes through Pilathara junction. Goa and Mumbai can be accessed on the northern side and Cochin and Thiruvananthapuram can be accessed on the southern side. The road to the east of Iritty connects to Mysore and Bangalore. The nearest railway station is Payangadi on Mangalore-Palakkad line. Trains are available to almost all parts of India subject to advance booking over the internet. There are airports at Kannur, Mangalore and Calicut. All of them are international airports but direct flights are available only to Middle Eastern countries.
