Preobrazheniye (Russian: Преображе́ние) is an urban locality (an urban-type settlement) in Lazovsky District of Primorsky Krai, Russia, located on the Preobrazheniye Bay of the Sea of Japan. Population: 7,184(2010 Census);[1] 9,335(2002 Census);[2] 12,213(1989 Census).[3]

History

Founded on August 19, 1860 on the day of Transfiguration of Jesus, it was named "Preobrazheniye" (meaning transfiguration in Russian) after the event.

Economy

The main enterprise of the settlement is Preobrazhenskaya Base of Trawling Fleet (Преображенская база тралового флота).
