Velindre NHS Trust

The Velindre NHS Trust was established in 1994 as a specialist provider of cancer services in Wales. It runs the Velindre Cancer Centre and the Welsh Blood Service. It hosts a number of external NHS organisations.

The headquarters are located at Charnwood Court, Parc Nantgarw, Cardiff.

The Velindre Cancer Centre in Cardiff provides radiotherapy treatment. It provides stereotactic body radiotherapy treatment and a stereotactic radiosurgery service.[1] A new Varian TrueBeam linear accelerator which delivers stereotactic radiosurgery was funded by a £4.6m Welsh Government investment in 2015.[2]

When inspected in 2014 the Cancer Centre was generally praised.[3]

A clinical trials unit was set up in 1994 with 3 members of staff which has now expanded to a staff of 34. More than 9,700 patients have been recruited to take part in a variety of clinical trials.[4]
