Sam Darbyshire (born 26 March 1989)[1] is a television actor best known for his role as Jamie "Fletch" Fletcher on the Channel 4 soap opera Hollyoaks. He has, however, also appeared in several advertisements and had a small role in Coronation Street. He belongs to a local youth theatre group in Wigan, Willpower Youth Theatre, near to where he lives in Standish, Greater Manchester. Sam is represented by Inter-City Casting who also represent fellow stars Carley Stenson and Ashley Slanina-Davies.[2] In his final year of secondary school, Sam was involved in a production of the musical Grease.[3]

Sam says: "I love the idea of entertaining and being on TV. It's what I've always wanted to do. I can't wait to see how Fletch develops - his capers with Josh are hilarious!"

Sam attended Winstanley College, Billinge also the college of The Verve lead singer Richard Ashcroft,[4][5] Georgia Taylor [6] and fellow Hollyoaks star Carley Stenson[7][8] He has recently completed his A-levels achieving AABB and is an ex student at Staffordshire University after failing to complete his 3 years, he is now a student at Salford University. On 5 September 2013, Sam welcomed the birth of his first child; a daughter called Annabelle.
