Robert Triptow

Robert Triptow (born May 10, 1952 in Salt Lake City, Utah) is a writer and "the last of the underground cartoonists."^[1] His 1989 anthology Gay Comics is one of the earliest histories of the subject,^[2] and won the first Lambda Literary Award for Humor.

As a cartoonist, Triptow's contributions to Howard Cruse's Gay Comix began with issue #2. He succeeded Cruse as editor of Gay Comix,^[3] from issue #5 (1984) through issue #13 (1991).

As a journalist, Triptow has contributed to The Advocate, Bay Area Reporter, Frontiers, The Sentinel, and other West Coast gay publications.^[4]
