Pramodh Madhvaraj is an Indian Politician and a member of the Indian National Congress from the state of Karnataka. Madhvaraj is a first-term member of the Karnataka Legislative Assembly.In June 2016 Madhvaraj was inducted into the Siddaramaiah led government of Karnataka as a state minister with Independent Charge.Madhvaraj holds the Youth Services Department, Fisheries from Animal Husbandry and Fisheries Department portfolio in the Government of Karnataka.Madhvaraj is the 10th richest minister in India to be sworn into the Karnataka Cabinet.[1][2][3][4]

Political life

Madhvaraj is from the Indian National Congress, Madhvaraj represents Udupi Assembly Constituency of Udupi district, Karnataka.Madhwaraj mother Manorama Madhwaraj was a Politician and a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party but switched sides to the Indian National Congress in 2009,she was a three term member of the Karnataka Legislative Assembly and a Member of Parliament of the 14th Lok Sabha.Pramodh Madhwaraj is married to Mrs. Supriya Madhvaraj, the couple have a daughter.Pramodh Madhvaraj unsuccessful fought the 2008 Karnataka Legislative Assembly election on a Indian National Congress ticket losing to K. Raghupati Bhat of the Bharatiya Janata Party by about 2500 votes.The following 2013 Karnataka Legislative Assembly election Madhwaraj won the seat defeating B. Sudhakar Shetty of the Bharatiya Janata Party by over 39000 votes.[5]Madhwaraj completed his college from Mahatma Gandhi Memorial College and has a degree in engineering from National Institute of Technology, Karnataka his early studies were at St. Cecily’s Convent, Udupi and Christian High School Udupi.Pramod Madhwaraj is the managing Trustee of M Madhwaraj Charitable Trust which is named after his late father M. Madhwaraj, the trust helps poor and needy patients who are in need for medical attention .[6]

Besides holding the Youth Services Department, Fisheries from Animal Husbandry and Fisheries Department portfolio Madhvaraj also Serves as the District In-Charge Minister for Udupi district.[7]As the Fisheries minister Madhwaraj has tried to regulate fishing in coastal areas due to the depletion of aquatic animals on the count of over fishing.[8]
