Pooja Sharma is an Indian television actress born and brought up in Mumbai. She made her lead role debut in StarPlus show Ruk Jaana Nahin as Sanchi Mathur, the female protagonist. Before this project she was a part of Sab TV show Mrs. & Mr. Sharma Allahabadwale as Kiran.

Family Background and Early Life

Pooja Sharma was born to Suresh Sharma and Sadhana Sharma of Lokhandwala, Mumbai. They are only two siblings. She has only one younger sister, Megha Sharma who is also a TV actress.[1] Her father met a car accident and expired on 31 May 2013.[2] Her mother is a housewife.

Career

Pooja Sharma was working in the HR department of a corporate firm for two and a half years. She never considered acting as a career option. One day, accidentally she met one TV show coordinator and he insisted her to join TV industry as an actor. She emerged successful in the audition and thus she came to this field.[3] As her debut show she took supporting role in Sab TV show Mrs. & Mr. Sharma Allahabadwale.

She made her debut lead role in StarPlus show Ruk Jaana Nahin as Sanchi Mathur.[4][5] In a chat with "The Hindu" she said "The transition phase was a little difficult. Because being from a non-acting background I had to undergo hard training. The overall journey has been very nice, people supported me a lot.". Her performance as Sanchi Mathur was liked by her fans and critics.[6] [7] [8] In a chat with "Zee News" she expressed her opinion about Indian family-based show and bold scene as "It's not right to showcase bold scenes in family-based TV dramas.".[9]

She had been nominated for STAR Parivaar Award 2012 in two categories (1) Favourite Beti and (2) Favourite Naya Sadasya (Female) for her role as Sanchi/Saanchi in Ruk Jaana Nahin.[10][11]

She was also seen in StarPlus show Tu Mera Hero as Vaishali Mukund Agarwal, the female antagonist.[12] In a chat with "Bollywooddhamaka" she said about her antagonist role as “Essaying a negative role has its own pros and cons. I am glad that the show has given me an opportunity to explore another shade of acting.".[13]

She recently entered StarPlus popular show Diya Aur Baati Hum as Poorvi, weird negative role.[14]

She had also done 12 (twelve) episodics for different TV channels; latest as Shivi in Yeh Hai Aashiqui for Bindass.[15]

Marital Status

On Monday, 22nd February 2016 she weds Pushkar Pandiit, a TV show director by profession.[16][17][18]
