Patrick Baumann (born 5 August 1967)[1] is the Secretary General of the International Basketball Federation, more commonly known as FIBA, FIBA World, or FIBA International. He joined FIBA in 1994, and became the Deputy Secretary General in 1995. He was elevated to the position of Secretary General in 2002, with his term officially starting in 2003.[2]

Background

Baumann has been involved in many aspects of the basketball world. He played basketball while in Italy and also served as a referee. In Switzerland, he trained referees, coached a basketball team ran clinics and organize tournaments.[1][3]

FIBA

While Secretary General of FIBA, Baumann has supported the growth of 3X3 basketball. This format was used at the Nanjing 2014 Youth Olympic Games and will be used in the under 18 will championships in 2015 Israel.[3][4]
