Murphy Sam & Jodi is an American radio show that was first launched in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. The show is hosted by Bob Murphy, Sam North and Jodi Carson. Two of the hosts, Bob Murphy and Jodi Carson, are married.[1]

The show featured on a number of radio stations across the United States. The show started as a morning show, before the syndication expanded and began to air at differing times across America and is syndicated by Colbert Media Group.[2] The show’s primary focus is a family friendly atmosphere covering entertainment news, lifestyle, current affairs, and the hosts’ personal lives.[3]

Aside from appearing on various American radio stations, it is also available via an app and the iHeartRadio app.[4]

History

The show’s format dates back to 1997 when Jodi joined the Murphy and Sam Show, which was five years old at the time.[5]

In 2010, the presenters along with LSU Basketball Team went on the ADA Walk, which raised money for Step Up Walk for Diabetes, which took place in Baton Rouge.[6]

Jodi was interviewed on All Access in April 2012. During the interview she discussed that their most notable interviews had included Simon Cowell and William Shatner.[3] Jodi also discussed how they regularly used social media to stay in touch with their audience.[3]

In October 2013, Jodi was named The National Radio Personality of the Year by the National Office of the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals.[7] The trio of presenters presents the Radiothon in Augusta each year.[8][9] The 2013 radiothon raised over $50,000 for The Children's Hospital.[10]

In 2014, the trio of presenters from Murphy, Sam and Jodi recorded a radiothon for the Children's Miracle Network, which benefitted Our Lady of the Lake Children's Hospital.[11]

Charity

The radio show from 2012 onwards has raised money for various charities and foundations. In 2012, Murphy, Sam and jodi helped a children's hospital raise $228,000.[12] During that year a CMN radiothon led to the trio raising $115,000 Children's Miracle Network and BSA (Baptist St. Anthony's) Hospital.[13] During the same year, they also raised over $130,000 for St. Jude, with a total of $2 million for hospitals and charities.[14]

In 2013 the company raised another $108,000 for a Children's hospital in Amarillo.[15]
