Modi Rosenfeld

Modi Rosenfeld (born April 29, 1970, in Tel Aviv, Israel as Mordechai Rosenfeld), known professionally as Modi^[1] is an Israeli stand-up comedian, actor, and cantor.^[2]

Biography

Rosenfeld was born in Tel Aviv, Israel and moved to Woodmere, New York, with his family when he was seven years old.^[1] He graduated from George W. Hewlett High School in 1988 and Boston University in 1992, majoring in psychology and minoring in voice. Although he has called Los Angeles home, he lives in an apartment on the Lower East Side of Manhattan in New York City.

Rosenfeld studied cantorial music at Yeshiva University's Belz School of Music and is a cantor, or hazzan, at the Community Synagogue on 6th Street in Manhattan.^[1] He was a Wall Street international banker for Merrill Lynch before entering comedy.^[1][3]

Rosenfeld is an established headliner at comedy clubs and colleges across the United States and is a regular fixture on the comedy scene in both New York and Los Angeles.^[4] He performed at the launch party of the late Israeli astronaut Ilan Ramon in Houston before takeoff.^[1] Ramon, the space shuttle payload specialist of STS-107, died in the fatal last mission of Columbia in 2003.

Rosenfeld has contributed to US Weekly as a member of the fashion police^[5][6] and was also semi-finalist on the fourth season of Last Comic Standing.^[7]

His cousin is Modi Wiczyk of Media Rights Capital.
