Mellow 1557 was a former medium wave radio station based in Frinton on Sea in Essex, United Kingdom.[1][2]

History

Ownership

The station launched on 7 October 1990 as an easy listening station for Tendring. By 1992 Southern Radio PLC had acquired Mellow, making it part of the same group which owned Ocean FM, Southern FM, South Coast Radio.[3][4]

Southern Radio then sold Mellow on to Radio First before it purchased Invicta FM and Invicta SuperGold.

On September 1, 1998, it was sold by Radio First to Tindle Radio Ltd. On 19 November 1998, it became a Dream 100.[5][6]

Staff

Presenters on Mellow included Andre Kimche, John Hyde, James Hazell, Paul McClaren, Julian Bright, Paul Graham, Johnny Lewis, Paul Gledhill, John Chadwick Bill Rollins and pete edwards.and Steve Marshall

Programme controllers of the station included Andy Archer, Roger Day and James Hazell.
