Manpreet Singh Ayali (born 6 January 1975) is serving as MLA Dakha from the political party Shiromani Akali Dal.[1] He served as Chairman of ZilaParishad, President Co-operative Society, Ayali Khurd and Sarpanch of his native village. He has undertaken a number of initiatives in his constituency and has released more than 200 crores for its development, thus becoming synonymous with grants. He was honored with the Best Zila Parishad National Award from the Rural Development Minister Jairam Ramesh, Govt of India, during a national level programme ‘National Panchayati Raj Day’ in the presence of Hon. Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. He received this award for playing an important role in the development of rural Ludhiana.

Early life

Born into a farming family, Manpreet Singh Ayali has done his schooling from Kundan Vidya Mandir, a premier public school in Ludhiana. He is an alumnus of Satish Chander Dhawan Government College For Boys, Ludhiana. As his father was a farmer, Manpreet Singh Ayali started his career as a farmer, and then ventured into the real estate and construction business.

Political career

Manpreet Singh Ayali started his political career as President Co-operative Society, Ayali Khurd. Later on he got elected as Sarpanch from his native village. In the meantime, he became a member of Zilla Parishad, Ludhiana. In the year 2008 he was unanimously elected Chairman, Zilla Parishad, Ludhiana as the youngest incumbent. While serving as chairman of Zilla Parishad, he released grants worth crores not only from the state & central government but also from the World Bank. He used these grants to uplift the situation of the rural areas by providing clean drinking water through the installation of RO plants, providing better sewerage facility, better roads and undertaking tree plantation. His innovative solution for natural water cleaning was highly appreciated at the national level and became a benchmark for other states. During this time, he got appointed as a member of Punjab Pollution Control Board and a member of State Health Planning & Monitoring Committee. In 2012 he was elected as M.L.A. from Dakha Constituency, Ludhiana by winning with a huge margin of 16388 votes against one of the strongest candidate of Congress and sitting MLA. In 2014, SAD president Sukhbir Singh Badal declared Manpreet Singh Ayali as a party candidate from Ludhiana (Lok Sabha constituency).

Social Activities

Upon seeing the youngsters of rural area addicted to drugs, Manpreet Singh Ayali has launched the "Punjabiyon Jaago Nashe Tyago" Campaign which has gained tremendous popularity and momentum. Under this campaign he launched a helpline & organized "quit drugs" camps in various hospitals. He also promoted social welfare activities such as Gym and Sports. A fully equipped Gym worth Rs. 50000/- is provided to all the villages of his district.

He has also taken a strong stand against corruption and kick-started the movement against corruption by launching a helpline. He encouraged the people to call on the helpline whenever they encounter or witness bribery or any act of corruption.

Awards

On 24 April 2013, during ‘National Panchayati Raj Day’ in New Delhi, Ayali received the Best Zila Parishad National Award from the Rural Development Minister Jairam Ramesh, Government of India, in the presence of Hon. Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. He was honoured with the award for playing a vital role in developing the rural areas in his district.
