List of submissions to the 52nd Academy Awards for Best Foreign Language Film

The following 23 films, all from different countries, were submitted for the 52nd Academy Awards in the category Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film. The highlighted titles were the five nominated films, which came from France, Italy, Poland, Spain. West Germany won the award with the film The Tin Drum.[1]

The People's Republic of China submitted a film for the first time.
