Liberty Videocon General Insurance is an Indian insurance company. It is a joint venture between the Boston-based insurance company Liberty Mutual Insurance Group and India-based Videocon Industries [3][4][5][6][7][8][9] Liberty Videocon operates in 20 offices across 18 cities in India.[10] The company has approximately 600 employees and has stated that it aims to expand by establishing 25 more offices across the country by the end of 2014.[11]

History

Liberty Videocon is a subsidiary of the Liberty Mutual Group which was established in 1912 as the Massachusetts Employees’ Insurance Association (MEIA). The first branch office was opened in 1914, and later that year, the company wrote its first automobile insurance policy. The name was changed in 1917 to the Liberty Mutual Insurance Company, and through partnerships, the company began offering full-coverage auto policies Liberty Videocon got approved by IRDA in the Year 2013 to run the General Insurance operations in India.[12]
