Kundarki is a nagar panchayat (town) in the Moradabad district of Uttar Pradesh, India. The settlement dates back to the Mughal period. Kundarki is located on the Moradabad-Agra highway. It is 18 km away from Moradabad city. It was declared a "panchayat" in 1858, later on in 1907 it was declared as a "town area" but, seeing the development of the town, the Uttar Pradesh government declared it a nagar panchayat in 1994. In 1960 the development of "Block" took place in this town. In 1962 the Waterworks (pani ki tanki), in 1976 "Power House", in 1986 the Police station was introduced.

History shows the existence of Kundarki in the 10th century. Even in 1363 Ibne btatuta who was on the world tour has stayed here for one night. Kundarki was also highlighted in "Ayene Akhbari". In 1662 the famous Urdu poet Mirza Ghalib, in 1876 "Maharishi Dayanand Saraswati" even the Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi and Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru have also been to Kundarki.

In 1575 Kundarki was the estate (Riyasat) of Kayasth Emperor named Raja Munshi Hardat Rai Sekribal. In 1578 he built the castle (Mahal) in Kundarki due to which his family the next generation got the name "Mahal Wale". His Scions – Babu Dinesh Bal Bhatnagar (the well known Social Worker-awarded President Award in 1984, Naresh Bal Bhatnagarm, Shiva Bal Bhatnagar and Aman Bal Bhatnagar still lives in Kundarki.

In 1628, the Mughal Emperor Shajahan declared "Qazi Abdul Razzaq Sahab"as a Sheher Qazi of Kundarki. His grandson Saeyad Raza Ali was awarded with the designation of "Sir" by the British government due to which he was known by the name "Sir Saeyad Raza Ali" not only this he was also made the Agent General (High Co missioner) of South Africa by the British government.

In 1874, Mir Hadi Ali Grand Father of Sir Saeyad Raza Ali (Born in 1880) made a big contribution by introducing a Railway Station in Kundarki.(Knowledge taken form BOOK : Amal Namma By RAZA ALI 1943) The Mazar of Qazi Abdul Razaq is still present in Kundarki in front of Lala Surendra Bhushan's house. The scion of Qazi Abdul Razaq – Dr.S.T.Hasan Sahab, the well known personality of Moradabad is still present in Moradabad. Kundarki has also given birth to many freedom fighters named "Babu Jiva Ram Advocate; Munshi Ratanlal; Sayeed Razi Ul Hasan". Even the famous Qawwali singer "Shankar Shambhu" was also from Kundarki. The eye catching thing about Kundarki is its beautiful mini Taj Mahal.

Political status

The town is represented in the Uttar Pradesh assembly by Haji Rizwan Haji. Akbar Husain (Ex Minister) Rani Indra Mohni (Ex Minister) was a famous Congress Party leader. She was also elected for M.L.A.

Business

There is no particular business in Kunderki but due to neighbourhood of Brass city Moradabad most of the people work in Moradabad and do their own business. Town has one petrol pump (Kunderki Filling Station). The Qazi Mosque serves as the main socio-cultural center in the town. Even there is a huge market complex named "Babu Mahesh Bal Bhatnagar Complex" which has been the source of employment for 150-160 people since 1999. The owner of the market is Babu Dinesh Bal Bhatnagar the eminent personality of Kundarki who has been the writer of many books (History of Kundarki-"Humare Kundarki"; Shiv Aradhana; Guru Mahima; Kapaldhari Strot etc.)
