Kacchi Dargah–Bidupur Bridge

The Kacchi Dargah–Bidupur Bridge (Hindi: कच्चीदरगाह-बिदुपुर सेतु), currently under construction, will span the river Ganges, connecting Kacchi Dargah in Patna and Bidupur in Hajipur in the Indian state of Bihar.^[1] Upon completion in 2020, the bridge will provide an easy roadway link between the northern and southern parts of Bihar and will connect two major national highways, linking NH 30 to NH 103.

The project

Chief minister Nitish Kumar inaugurated the construction of the 9.76 km-long (6.06 mi) bridge in August, 2015.^[2] Upon completion in 2020, the bridge will reduce the load on Mahatma Gandhi Setu and will also reduce the traffic in the capital city of Patna.

A bridge has been planned across the Ganges to connect Arrah and Chhapra.^[3] A road bridge parallel to the existing rail and road bridge, Rajendra Setu, has also been planned.^[4]

The bridge will also require construction of 45.4 km (28.2 mi) of approach roads on both ends of the bridge.
