KL Gangster 2 is a Malaysian action film released on 3 October 2013 and directed by Syamsul Yusof and starring Rosyam Nor, Aaron Aziz, Adi Putra, Sofi Jikan and Zizan Razak. It is the prequel to KL Gangster which screened in 2011, it tells the story of two brothers, Jai and Malik.

The film costed of production at about RM4.5 million and won two of seven nominations in the 26th Malaysian Film Festival.

Plot

KL Gangster 2 tells a story of two brothers Malek (Aaron Aziz) and Jai (Adi Putra) indirectly caught in a gangsterism world since the death of their father, 10 years ago. Since their father's demise, their families living in hardship in the next round of their mother (Ku Faridah) living in fear caused by threats from a loan sharks who collect their father's debt. Because of money and hardship, so, Jai became aggressive until willing to do anything for money to change his luck and receive a great opposition from his family.

Malek getting bogged down to thinking about the problems faced and coupled with the report of the doctor who confirmed that her mother suffering from cancer. Meanwhile, Tailong (Rosyam Nor) is among the biggest gangster in Kuala Lumpur are actively carrying out illegal activities. All Tailong's actions is not liked by other gangsters, but had to contend with his power. At the same time, King (Ridzuan Hashim) and his stepson, Shark (Syamsul Yusof) planned to strengthening their positions to destroy Tailong and calling for help from his long-time best friend, Malek by offers a big reward for him.

Malek accept the offer to cover the medical cost of his mother and to pay his father's debt. But his activity is not likened by his mother and he and his brother were driven out from home. King became more powerful with the help of Malek and his presence makes Tailong feel threatened. He plans to eliminate the King and Malek. There was a great battle between two groups of the biggest gangster in KL when Tailong attack King and Malek. They almost defeated by Tailong but survived when the police arrived and they managed to escape. At the same time, Malek spotted the same tattoo in Tailong's body and his father's killer. The conflict and animosity between Malek and Tailong was began.

When Tailong got to know that Jai is a Malek's brother, he kidnapped Zati (Sheera Iskandar) and rapping her in front of him. Jai cannot doing anything because Tailong's men is too crowded. Malek also found his mother suffered severe injuries due to beaten by Tailong's men. He did not have time to go to Tailong's terrain to save his siblings and had to rushed his mother to the hospital. Tailong finally called Malek to the port if he wants to save his siblings in the last clash.

With the help of Ajib (Sofi Jikan) and their people, Malek managed to destroy the whole of Tailong's gang. He and Jai teamed up and succeed to destroy Tailong and busted him over to Shark to shot him to death. They then rushed to the hospital to pay the hospital bills so that their mother can undergo a surgery. Zati and their mother refused to forgive Malek and Jai for destroying their family's happiness. Jai also stubbornly to remain in the criminal world in search of money, his brother, Malek was detained by the police after being betrayed by his own gang. While he sent to the police station, Malek prays to God so that his family is safe while he was imprisoned.

At the same time, Tailong is dead. With his departure, Shark became the leader for the strongest gang in KL. He had planned to send Malek into the prison. Next, turn back to KL Gangster.

Filming

The film was shot began 1 December 2011 and choose several locations such as Kuala Lumpur, Klang Valley and Batu Gajah, Perak as the filming location.

The film finally got the Malaysian actor, Rosyam Nor after Syamsul Yusof failed to reach him for KL Gangster due to his hectic work schedule. According to Syamsul, he does want Rosyam to be casted in the action movie because the character is specially created for him. The last time Rosyam acted in action films via Bade Hj. Azmi's 2004 film, Castello.

During the filming, Aaron Aziz suffers a back injury while performing combat action with Rosyam Nor. He was sent to the hospital for treatment.

Malaysian criminal analyst, Kamal Affandi Hashim make a special appearance in the movie, where he appeared in the ending scene.

Controversy

A month before its cinematic release on 3 October 2013, the entire film was leaked online and sold as pirated DVDs.

The stress brought about by piracy took its toll on Syamsul, who has refused to appear at the film's promotional activities and has been avoiding the press since the issue arose.

The film producer Datuk Yusof Haslam as saying that his son was so "emotionally disturbed" that he has decided to give up film-making. Due to the incident, Skop Productions and Grand Brilliance held a press conference at the Malaysian National Film Development Corporation (FINAS) on 30 August 2013.

Spin-off

After the release of KL Gangster and KL Gangster 2, it's spin-off, entitled Abang Long Fadil released in cinemas in 2014.
