Junagarh railway station is located in Kalhandi District of the State of Odisha in the Republic of India. In 2014, it had a 24km line.

History

The proposal for Lanjigarh-Junagarh line came in 1991, when Bhakta charan das was the state railway minister. This line was announced in rail budget 1992. After nearly twenty years later this line was completed in 2011. After then Bhawanipatna railway station was opened by former State railway minister Bhakta charan das on 11 August 2012.[1] On the same day, the first train Bhawanipatna-Bhubaneshwar link express started from Bhawanipatna.[2]

Opened

Lanjigarh-Junagarh section was completed by 2 March 2014 and Bhubaneshwar-Bhawanipatna Express was extended to Junagarh.[3] Junagarh railway station was inaugurated by Minister of State for Railways Adhir Ranjan Chaudhury in presence of Kalahandi MP Bhakta Charan Das on 3 March 2014.[4]
