The Institute of Chartered Financial Analysts of India (ICFAI Society) was established in 1984 as a not-for-profit educational society in Andhra Pradesh, India. ICFAI University refers to the universities sponsored by the Institute of Chartered Financial Analysts of India and is established in the state of Uttarakhand,^[1] Tripura,^[2] Sikkim,^[3] Meghalaya,^[4] Mizoram,^[5] Nagaland,^[6] and Jharkhand^[7] under respective State legislations. The Government of Orissa passed The Icfai University Act and the State Governments of Assam, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Himachal Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Punjab issued letters of intent to the institute for the establishment of universities. Each university is a separate and independent legal entity.

The University Grants Commission (UGC)^[8] has recognised the above seven ICFAI universities established under State legislations in terms of Section 2(f) of the UGC Act 1956.^[9][10] Consequently, these universities can confer degrees at Bachelor’s, Master’s and Doctoral levels.

The Institute of Chartered Financial Analysts of India University, Tripura (IUT) or The ICFAI University, Tripura was established in 2004 through an Act of State Legislature (Tripura Act 8 of 2004). UGC has approved the university under Section 2(f) of the UGC Act, 1956 and hence included in the list of universities maintained by UGC under Section 2(f) of the UGC Act, 1956.^[11][12]

Location

The campus at Kamalghat Sadar, Tripura is a blossoming green campus spread over 32 acres and is nearest to the state capital Agartala.

Presently the university has following faculties-

• Faculty of Management Studies^[13]
• Faculty of Science and Technology^[14]
• Faculty of Education^[15]
• Faculty of Law^[16]

Regulatory approval

The university has received the approval of National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE)^[17][18] to offer a Bachelors Program in Education. The Distance Education Council (DEC) has approved the programs of the university.^[19] The Bar Council of India has given its approval^[20][21] for three year and five year Law Courses to award degrees in law.

Membership

The university is a member of the Association of Indian Universities (AIU),^[22] New Delhi, the Federation of Universities,^[23] India and the Association of Commonwealth Universities^[24][25][26] London.
