Martyr Gulab Singh Lodhi a resident of Unnao, was a freedom fighter shot dead by a British officer in August 1935 when he climbed a tree in the park with the tri-colour flag defying government order. He died at Jhandewala Park in Aminabad, Lucknow.[1]

A statue of him was erected in the park in 2004 but by 2009 was in a state of disrepair.[1]
