Along with TIAS.com, Lilter.com and Ruby Lane it is considered one of the 4 major online antique malls.[1] As of July 2014, the site lists more than 400,000 items from 1,800 dealers in 29 countries.

History

Antique Networking, Inc. was founded in Ohio in 1994 by Kathy Kamnikar , and was online by June 1995 [2] placing it among the very first wave of online internet antiques & collectibles shops. Starting in 1996 it operated under the domain antiqnet.com until merger with Baton Rouge, Louisiana-based GoAntiques in 2001.[3]

In 2003 the company moved headquarters from Baton Rouge to Columbus, Ohio under Chapter 11 Reorganization.[4][5]

In October 2008, WorthPoint, Inc. acquired GoAntiques. GoAntiques has continued as a WorthPoint marketplace for buyers and sellers of art, antiques and collectibles. Users can go to the Worthopedia to get information about their collectibles, or for a fee ask an expert Worthologist to tell them approximately how much the item is worth. The site is also a way for collectors to meet up with other collectors, no matter how obscure their collection. Worthpoint offers a "7 day free trial" which requires authorizing a credit card to be billed if the trial is not cancelled.

In 2012, WorthPoint was named the winner of the 2012 Readers Choice Award for “Best Resources for Collectors.” [6] Also in 2012, WorthPoint.com ranked No. 505 on Inc. Magazine’s Fastest Growing Private Companies in America with more than 4.3-plus million monthly visitors.[7]

In May 2015, Gemr acquired GoAntiques. Gemr plans to integrate GoAntiques into its platform in 2016.
