Gallop and Ride is a video game released by THQ on November 20, 2008 for the Wii.

Overview

In Gallop and Ride, you play as a boy or girl who works at his or her grandfather's ranch known as the Old Mill Ranch. Grandfather gave his grandchild the ranch after him and asked to put it back up to its formal glory. So, in the game, the main objective is to renovate all facilities back up for the guests and clients visiting. The player can choose from a wide variety of outfits. But, can only choose a small portion in the beginning of the game. The player has the option to use to game controls for riding: gesture or control stick. Both are the same as for games such as Paws and Claws: Pet Vet. In gesture, it is somewhat similar towards real-life, with all Wii Remote movement, and in control stick, the player uses the Nunchunk for movement, and clicks on buttons on the Wii Remote for speeding up or slowing down.

Gameplay

Activities

In the game, you are able to do many things. You can groom your horse using brushes or a hose. You can also clean your horse's hooves using a pick and a brush. You are able to cure your horses if they get sick, or call in a veterinarian. You can breed your horses as well. You can train foals. You can feed your horses hay, oats and barley, or pellets. You can have several types of blankets and saddles for your horse. You can take it out to ride in the fields, woods, or mountains. You can train your horse in order to go through competitions. You can also have guests to stay overnight in a sort-of-like hotel and have them ride your horses. You can also massage your horses in a therapy center or put them inside a paddock to reduce stress. You can clean out the stalls in the stable. You can pick up carrots in your garden and use them for tidbits or for foal training. You can also read books that allow you to higher advance your facilities.

You and Your Horse

You can choose from 3 breeds: Friesan, Hanoverian, and Andalusian; from 7 colors: black, white, gray, bay, red, cream, and palomino; and from 6 patterns: black hair (mane and tail), solid, pinto, dapple, socks, and stripes. You can braid your horse's mane and name your horse. The gender is uncertain. The player can be either gender and any name and can choose from a wide range of outfits that can be purchased. Though the names can only have so many characters in them.
