Floda Church

Flodafors is a small village of Katrineholm Municipality in Södermanland County, Sweden. Neighbouring villages are Bie and Valla. Flodafors is often called Floda for convenience. Floda is among other things well known for its church, which dates back to the 9th century. Some of the paintings in the church are made by Albert the Painter. At the moment the social democrats are shutting down schools in the Katrineholm Municipality to save money so they can build "Gröna kulle" together with the Central park in Katrineholm city.[1]

On 17 December 2007, the Social Democrats and the Left Party in Katrineholm county decided to shut down the elementary school in Flodafors, The news of closure pulled off a great public protest, led by people in Flodafors. The Social Democrats had no good reason for the closure, but their real reason was that they received little votes in Flodafors, but was never admitted by them. The Floda independent school association formed and has been operating school activities since the fall of 2009, in the old school premises. This was a great victory for Flodafors and a great loss of prestige for the Social Democrats in Katrineholm.
