Bobby Plummer was a former American football head coach for Sharpstown High School. He played college football at Texas Christian University and was selected by the Dallas Cowboys in the 3rd round (39th overall) of the 1962 NFL Draft.
Early years
Plummer attended Seymour High School, before moving on to play college football at Texas Christian University. He is remembered for hitting Jimmy Saxton in the head with his knee, which contributed to a poor game by Saxton and a loss of the previous unbeaten University of Texas.[1] He received All-SWC honors in 1961.
Professional career
Dallas Cowboys
He was drafted by the Dallas Cowboys in the 3rd round (39th overall) of the 1962 NFL Draft and by the Dallas Texans in the 5th round (35th overall) of the 1962 AFL Draft. He signed with the Cowboys, and was tried at offensive tackle and guard, but was released before the season started.[2]
Personal life
Plummer was the football head coach at Sharpstown High School for 28 years, where he had a 112-164-4 record.[3]
