Bishop Johnson College (initialized as BJC and BJCSC, and officially Bishop Johnson College of Science and Commerce and most commonly Bishop Johnson) is a private high school and a college located at 9/23, MG Marg, Civil Lines in Allahabad, India.

Established in 1977 under the administration of the Anglican Diocese of Lucknow, and affiliated to ICSE Board, the college provides education from Pre-kindergarten to High school (Higher Secondary) level. Since 2004 BJC offers Bachelor's degree in Commerce under the constituency of Sam Higginbottom Institute of Agriculture, Technology and Sciences.

The college caters to academic development as well as provide career counselling for students along with NCC, coaching in various sports and co-curricular activities, and personality development program through various seminars and group discussions.

History

Foundation

BJC was officially established on 11 November 1977, before which the institution served as a girl's hostel and a convent. The first Headmistress appointed was Mrs. Kanchan Singh who worked effectively for the early years of development of the college. Initially, BJC enrolled students from Pre-K to Grade 5 and started attracting students of Bachelor of Education from neighboring cities like Kanpur, Lucknow And Varanasi.

Progression

In 1987 Mr. Jaswant Singh was appointed the 2nd Principal of the College. In 1988 he inaugurated a Computer Lab which was among the first few in the city schools.

Following the demise of Mr. J. Singh, in 1989, Mr. A.T. Flynn was appointed as the 3rd officiating Principal of BJC.

Advancement

On 1 August 1990 Mr. N.L. Singh took in-charge of the college and became the 4th Principal of the college

Campus

Located in Civil Lines in the heart of the city of Allahabad, the school has a campus with library, swimming pool, and computer lab as well as an auditorium christened 'Noble Hall'. Situated in the midst of lush green and verdant surroundings, the school is overlooked by the architectural marvel All Saints Cathedral, which is a prominent landmark of the city. The Allahabad High Court and the railway station are also nearby.

A very beautiful basketball court and the first international court in Allahabad. Sports-in-charge Mr.V.P Dutt had been doing a very consistent and a very nice job in creating new talent from the institution.Many student from this school have played state,national level in football,basketball,cricket,badminton,swimming.

Vishal noble Singh became principal in 2012 preceded from Mr.Nandu lal Singh had been working hard to make this institution better.
