Aso Station (阿蘇駅, Aso-eki) is a railway station on the Hōhi Main Line in Aso, Kumamoto, Japan, operated by Kyushu Railway Company (JR Kyushu).

Aso Station is served by the 148.0 km (92.0 mi) Hōhi Main Line, which runs between Kumamoto and Ōita.

History

The station opened on 25 January 1918, as Bōchū Station (坊中駅).^[1] It was renamed Aso Station on 20 March 1961.^[1] With the privatization of JNR on 1 April 1987, the station came under the control of JR Kyushu.^[1]
