Andrés Ruzo is a geothermal scientist and a National Geographic Young Explorer, known for his science outreach work,[1][2] and his exploration of Shanay-timpishka, the "Boiling River of the Amazon".[3]

He was raised in Nicaragua, Peru, and Texas, and studied at Southern Methodist University, gaining degrees in Geology (BSc) and Finance (BBA).[1][4] As of February 2016, he is undertaking a PhD there.[5]

He is married and his wife also works as his field partner.[3]
