Amelia Lake

Amelia Lake is a lake in Anoka County, Minnesota, United States, located 2.1 miles away from Centerville. Amelia lake has an elevation of around 276 feet.[1] The lake sits on a lot of 217 acres.[2] This lake is open to the public to fish with a proper fishing license. Amelia Lake is in a scenic area with many trees surrounding and very few houses on the outskirts of the lake.[3]

The lake is not the same as Lake Nokomis, which was also called "Lake Amelia" from at least 1823 until 1910, when its name was changed to that of the grandmother of Hiawatha.[4]

Hydrography

Lake Amelia is one of a chain of four lakes coming south from Lake Leven. The other two lakes are Rice Lake and Lake Villard. Amelia is the source of the east branch of the Chippewa river[4]

Fishing

While fishing at Amelia Lake, you can have a chance of catching sunfish, crappie, large mouth bass, catfish, and bluegills.[1] Within the lake also holds many different species of fish: Black Bullhead, Brown Bullhead, Northern Pike, Pumpkinseen, Rock Bass, Walleye White Sucker, Yellow Bullhead, and Yellow Perch.[5] There are not many people that fish on this lake because it is so small and is hard to get to. Due to the busy roads, developments, and other buildings it can be difficult trying to find the way to the lake. At Amelia Lake, there is no parking anywhere along the water.

Stocking

Walleye is the only species that is being stocked in Amelia Lake. Since the year of 2004, they have been continuously stocking the lakes water. They have been stocking fingerlings, yearlings, and fry. The last year that the lake was stocked was 2012.
