A Carnegie Hall Christmas Concert

A Carnegie Hall Christmas Concert is a 1991 PBS special that originally aired as part of its Great Performances franchise.

Recorded in early December, 1991 at Carnegie Hall in New York City, the 90-minute concert is a program of traditional, secular, and religious Christmas carols performed by soprano Kathleen Battle and mezzo-soprano Frederica von Stade, a jazz band led by Wynton Marsalis, and orchestra & chorus conducted by André Previn. There is no introductory dialogue between songs, all material is either sung or performed.

After its initial airing, the show was repeated the following Christmas season on PBS. It has not aired since. However, it is currently available on DVD (following a VHS and LaserDisc issue in 1992).

A soundtrack album has also been issued with a majority of the songs as aired, but out of broadcast order so as to fit on a single CD.
